August 22, 2019 – The Nevada irrigation District (NID) is planning two public workshops focusing on the update to the District’s Strategic Plan. These public meetings will provide information about the Plan and allow participants to offer input as part of the update process.
The community workshops will be held on Sept. 3 and Sept. 17 from 6-8 pm at the NID main office, 1036 W. Main Street in Grass Valley. Both meetings will be managed by a professional facilitator.
“We are pleased to conduct two public workshops for strategic planning here in the District. This is an excellent opportunity for the public to proactively engage with District leadership, and to offer input for the District’s operations and water resource management activities in the coming years,” said General Manager Rem Scherzinger.
The District last refined its Strategic Plan in 2016. The Plan affirms NID’s core mission to provide a dependable, quality water supply while continuing to be good stewards of the watersheds and conserving the available resources in our care. The current Strategic Plan is in effect until it is updated and adopted by NID’s Board of Directors.
The Strategic Plan identifies four main goals of the District:
- Continued health of the District is dependent upon the proactive management of our physical, financial, and human resources.
- Stewardship of District resources requires a collaborative and responsive relationship with our Local and Regional community.
- Developing and managing our resources in a self-determining manner protects and provides for local control of our community’s most valuable assets – a fairly priced and available water supply.
- Integration of proven practices and technologies enhances efficiency and reliability throughout the District.
The Strategic Plan provides overall direction of NID, and permits the District to set priorities. The update will carry the District into its 100th year in operation, a historic milestone to be celebrated in the coming years, and to communicate goals and objectives, as well as the actions being undertaken to achieve them.
Please mark your calendars and be take part in setting the District’s guiding policies for the next three years.
