Total precipitation from the Bowman Lake reporting station continues to run well above average. As of December 29, 2021, we have 39.9” of precipitation which is 163% of average for this time of year.
Our reservoir storage is increasing, however, remains below average for this time of year. We are at 176,628 acre feet which is 96% of average and 65% of total capacity. Keep in mind, the recent round of storms has provided mostly snow, therefore the runoff has not made it into the reservoirs yet.
In regards to damage, NID Operations and Maintenance crews worked diligently through the storms to ensure continuous water service. Nearly all NID treated water facilities are running on back-up emergency generators and are able to continue to provide reliable service.
Our Irrigation Canals have sustained damages from numerous downed trees, however, crews have been able to keep minimal flows in the system while debris are removed.
Lastly, PG&E and PCWA have experienced damages to some of their water supply canals. NID is assisting by providing an alternative water supply into the North Auburn area. We are fortunate to be able to help our neighbors.
