February 27, 2019 – Starting March 1, the Nevada Irrigation District (NID) will begin transitioning from bi-monthly to monthly billing for its 19,000 treated water customers. The change will help customers better manage their household budget, track their water usage and detect possible leaks sooner.

The District’s treated water customers received notice of the new billing schedule on their January or February water bills. The notification included information about the day they will be billed each month.

Among the benefits of monthly billing, customers will be able to:

• Better monitor water consumption. Monthly bills provide a more timely account of water use, and that information can help customers adjust usage and conserve water, especially during summer months
• Find leaks faster. A monthly account of usage permits customers to notice if their water usage is higher than normal. That means they can find potential problems quickly, eliminating costly damage and high bills resulting from leaks, saving money and helping with water conservation
• More easily track monthly expenses. It’s a matter of convenience. Because most customers typically pay other bills, such as for electricity and mortgages, on a monthly basis, aligning the water bill makes it easier to budget for overall monthly household-related expenses.
