GRASS VALLEY July 30, 2016 – Directors of the Nevada Irrigation District on Wednesday (July 27) heard a presentation on the district’s Comprehensive Financial Report and Audit for 2015.
NID Finance Manager Marvin Davis, CPA, said the reports cover the range of NID’s activities including public water service, hydroelectric energy production, resource management and public recreation.
Independent auditor Ingrid Sheipline, CPA, a managing partner with Richardson & Co., LLP, Certified Public Accountants, of Sacramento, said NID financial records are being kept in accordance with accepted accounting principles and gave the District high marks.
She commended the District regarding significant improvements over the year prior and credited Mr. Davis and his accounting team for cooperation and significant process improvements throughout.
By law NID conducts an annual audit, and by policy the district selects a different independent auditor every five years. This was the third audit conducted under Richardson & Company’s current five-year contract.
The Board authorized Mr. Davis to publish and file the comprehensive annual report and audit, which are will be posted at nidwater.com. Further and for the first time, the District will apply for the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting which is awarded by the Government Finance Officers Association.
The next regularly scheduled meeting of the NID Board of Directors will be held at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, August 24, at the NID Business Center, 1036 West Main St., in Grass Valley. NID board meetings are open to the public.
