COLFAX August 12, 2018 – One lane of westbound Interstate 80 just east of Colfax is scheduled to be closed overnight Monday to Tuesday, August 13-14, of next week for bridge construction work.
The westbound #2 lane is scheduled to be closed beginning at 10 p.m. Monday from Secret Town Road to just past the Cape Horn Bridge to allow for trucks to deliver bridge girders. This work is part of the ongiing $50.6 million Interstate 80 Truck Climbing Lane Project.
The California Highway Patrol also will do rolling traffic blocks when the girders are being lifted into place. The work is expected to be completed by 3 a.m. Tuesday morning.
The project, which began in 2016, is constructing a 3-mile truck climbing lane on eastbound I-80 with standard 10-foot inside and outside shoulders, replacing the Cape Horn Undercrossing, constructing a 1,100-foot retaining wall separating Magra Road from I-80 and making drainage improvements. Completion is expected in December.
