April 23, 2021 – The Penn Valley Union Elementary School District Board of Trustees is pleased to announce that Melissa Conley has been selected as the new superintendent, pending Board approval at the upcoming May 12, 2021 Board Meeting. Mrs. Conley is scheduled to begin her position on July 1, 2021.

Mrs. Conley earned her master’s degree, administrative credential and teaching credential from National University in Education Administration, and bachelor’s degree in Psychology/Social Behavior from UC Irvine. She has worked in the district the past twelve years as a classroom teacher, has been Teacher in Charge many years, and currently serves as the Principal/Director of Curriculum and Instruction at Williams Ranch School. Mrs. Conley is a dedicated leader who advocates for equitable access for all students. She believes that being part of the community she works in is critical for the overall, long-term success of the district. She will continue to engage all stakeholders and have a presence at events to build partnerships with local organizations.

“Mrs. Conley has been a go to employee in our district the past 12 years. She has moved up the ranks excelling in every position.” Said Board President Rob Moen in a prepared statement. “The Board feels this transition will provide continuity to district programs. Melissa will continue the momentum that would be unattainable from any candidate that does not have her deep loyalty and history with our schools and community.”

In a statement from Mrs. Conley, she said, “I am incredibly honored and excited to be selected by the Board of Trustees. The District is very special to me as the majority of my career has been spent with PVUESD. This District’s wellbeing and financial solvency are a top priority. We all have been through so much change due to COVID-19, and I welcome the opportunity to bring consistency and support as we work together through this unprecedented time. Our District is very fortunate to have such dedicated staff, families, and community support. I am excited to work with all stakeholders while continuing our incredible momentum.”

The district will immediately post the job announcement for Mrs. Conley’s current position as Principal/Director of Curriculum and Instruction at Williams Ranch School, in anticipation for a successful and smooth transition.
