Auburn, California – The Placer Resource Conservation District is holding its annual Pollinator Patch Kit sale, offering community members a simple way to help native pollinators while adding beauty to their yards. Orders for this year’s kits close on October 16, 2025.

Each kit contains five easy-to-grow California native plants selected to provide food and habitat for bees, butterflies, and other pollinators. The plants are well-suited for home gardens and conventional landscaping and were chosen with beginners in mind. Families who want to bring more color into their yards while contributing to conservation will find the kits both accessible and rewarding.

“Pollinators like bees and butterflies are struggling, and the loss of habitat is a big part of the problem,” said Andrew Justus-Fritz, Community and Conservation Director at Placer RCD. “These kits make it easy for anyone to create a small but meaningful space that helps reverse that trend. They add beauty, save water, and support healthier ecosystems right in people’s own backyards.”

Pollinator populations across California have been in decline, putting ecosystems and food systems at risk. Planting native species is one of the most effective ways to support these essential insects. By purchasing a Pollinator Patch Kit, residents not only contribute to healthier habitats but also take part in a broader effort to conserve biodiversity in their own neighborhoods.

The kits are available for $50. Optional add-ons include protective gopher cages and a yard sign that shows support for pollinator conservation. Proceeds from the sale help the Placer RCD continue its mission of promoting sustainable land use practices and community conservation projects across the county.

Orders can be placed online at http://www.placerrcd.org/shop. Kits are limited, and the sale will end on October 16, 2025.
