WILLOWS, Calif., August 7, 2019 — Chris Carlton has joined the Plumas National Forest as the new Forest Supervisor, effective August 4, 2019. He comes to the Plumas from USDI Bureau of Land Management – Nevada, where he was the field manager for the Caliente Field Office for just over 4 years.
A native of northern Maine with a background in resource & land use planning, Carlton started his federal career with the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) in Wyoming and Washington.
“It’s challenging to balance the many opportunities afforded by our national forests,” said Carlton. “I look forward to getting to know everyone and discovering how we can work together and share resources to support our communities.”
Carlton served in the U.S. Air Force and also worked in the private sector, consulting on infrastructure projects.
He and his fiancée Rachel enjoy camping, fishing, mountain biking and hiking with their two dogs. They are currently looking for a home in the Quincy area. Carlton is also a mining and railroad history buff.
