October 21, 2016 – Most of us have a leftover bottle of prescription medication floating around somewhere in our medicine cabinet. But few of us know what to do with prescription drugs once we no longer need them (here’s a hint: don’t flush them!).

This Saturday, October 22nd, is Prescription Drug Take-Back Day, a free event hosted by local police departments in collaboration with the DEA, Nevada County Public Health, Coalition for a Drug-Free Nevada County, Tahoe-Truckee Future without Drug Dependence, and Tahoe Forest Health System.

Help keep drugs out of reach of kids and protect our water supply by properly disposing of your prescription medications. To drop off your prescription, mark out any personal information on your prescription bottle and bring it to the drop-off events at the following locations:

Drop-off Locations:

Grass Valley
Pioneer Lot (across from downtown Grass Valley Safeway)
Corner of South Auburn and Neal Street in Grass Valley
10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Truckee
Gateway Shopping Center parking lot (in front of Safeway)
11290 Donner Pass Road, Truckee
9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
