Tomorrow afternoon between 3-5 pm, the Rood Center will transform from drab government building into Halloween Central. The fourth annual Halloween Spooktacular is made possible by county staff and volunteers donating their time, creativity and candy as a gift to the community. Tonight, the Youth Commissioners helped put the finishing touches on some of the decorations. Here’s a sneak peek!
Halloween lovers of all ages are invited to park at the Nevada County Government Center, trick-or-treat throughout the County building departments, head up to the Madelyn Helling Library for the book giveaway, and then take the free shuttle downtown to City Hall. Nevada County Connects will run the shuttle between the Government Center, Madelyn Helling Library, and City Hall every 15 minutes until 7 p.m.
Tomorrow it’ll be your turn to walk on the Yellow Brick Road to the Wizard of Oz’ castle. And if all the adventures tire you out, take a nap!
This campus-wide celebration wouldn’t be complete without the Madelyn Helling Library! In partnership with the Community Support Network of Nevada County, Nevada County Library hosts the sixth annual Spooky Boooky Book Giveaway with face painting, healthy snacks, and storytimes. Community partners come together to bring awareness to the importance of reading and how access to books and home libraries increases a child’s literacy skills. There will be over 20 different community partners tabling at the event, distributing goodies and beneficial information for youth and families.
