NEVADA CITY, Calif. January 29, 2019 – On 1-21-2019, Nevada County Sheriff’s Office (NCSO) deputies responded to the Loma Rica commercial business district for a reported burglary to Gray Electric.
Upon initial investigation deputies learned unknown suspect(s) forced entry into the business, disabled the security system, disabled the video cameras, loaded one of Gray Electric’s work trucks with approximately $75,000 worth of items from the warehouse and fled the area.
After several days of investigation, Nevada County Sheriff’s Office detectives developed suspect information and a probable destination of the stolen property. On 1-23-2019, members of NCSO Special Investigations Unit, Placer County Sheriff’s Office Special Operations Unit, and California Highway Patrol conducted a sting operation in which they took Michael Robert Bond, 37, from Grass Valley, into custody. Bond was in possession of the stolen work truck and some of the stolen property – detectives returned the vehicle and property to the business owner.
