STATELINE, NV, Jan. 31, 2019 – Back for its twelfth season, the Tahoe Rim Trail Association (TRTA) has officially opened registration for its Youth Backcountry Camps (YBCC). In partnership with the Tahoe Institute for Natural Science (TINS), YBCC offers teens ages 12-17 the chance to spend four-days/three nights exploring the beauty of Lake Tahoe’s backcountry through an epic backpacking adventure.

These trips will introduce teens to the innumerable joys of backpacking so much so that they won’t even miss being away from technology. On this journey into the wild, campers will make new friends while backpacking 3-6 miles per day. They’ll learn new backcountry skills and support their fellow adventurers in the wild while exploring exciting flora and fauna and developing a passion for the outdoors.

Youth participants are provided all the gear, food, and instruction to get outdoors with their peers. Teens will return refreshed and energized having increased their confidence from overcoming the challenges of a wilderness backpacking journey! All YBCC trips are instructed by experienced and well-trained outdoor professionals.

“What a great program to prove to these kids that they can do anything!” – YBCC Parent
