December 11, 2017 – On Monday, December 11, 2017 at around 0640 Hours, the Nevada County Sheriff’s Office was requested in the 14000 block of Grizzly Trail after a resident reported a home-invasion robbery.

Three subjects, later discovered to be from Texas, entered the victim’s residence, bound the victim’s hands, and stole several thousand dollars cash and several pounds of marijuana. It is believed at least one of the suspects was armed with a handgun. The suspects’ vehicle ran out of gas prior to the robbery was located stuck in the mud a short distance from the house. A large manhunt started shortly after deputies’ arrival on scene.

As of 1145 Monday morning, deputies had located and arrested all three suspects in the greater Greenhorn Road area. The three suspects have been identified as Michael Diaz (46 YOA), Shawn Turnage (24 YOA) and Steve Ray Rhodes (28 YOA). All suspects have been booked for Home-invasion Robbery, Kidnapping to Commit Robbery, Burglary, False Imprisonment, and Felony Conspiracy. There are no outstanding suspects. This crime is being actively investigated by our Major Crimes Unit.
