Grass Valley, CA – The North Star House invites the community to celebrate the season with a festive holiday gathering on December 13th from 2–4pm. This year, the historic Julia Morgan–designed home is decorated with holiday décor that enhances the home’s historic beauty and connects visitors to the Foote family’s legacy. Visitors are welcome to tour, explore, and experience the House at its most nostalgic and inviting.

This year’s Christmas decorations were created by Rebekah Freeman, whose thoughtful eye has brought a timeless warmth to the North Star House. Every detail was placed with intention, choosing holiday elements that honor its architecture and allow the character of each room to shine.

As visitors walk through, they may also notice a nod to the Foote family’s history woven into the décor. A photograph of Mary Hallock Foote holding her daughter, Agnes, reflects a tender chapter of the family’s story. A memorial wreath created in Agnes’s honor is once again hanging in its original place, inscribed with the Italian words:

“O PERFETUI FIORI DEL ETERNA LETIZIA”

(OH PERFECT FLOWERS OF ETERNAL HAPPINESS)

This gentle historical touch adds depth to the holiday atmosphere with the spirit of the family who shaped the North Star House more than a century ago.

We welcome the community to experience the House dressed for the season and to join us at the Christmas Party on December 13th, where guests will enjoy live music, caroling, warm beverages, festive treats, and special moments for families, including a visit from Santa. Guests are encouraged to explore the decorated rooms, take photos, and enjoy the simple nostalgia of the holidays inside a beautifully preserved historic home.
