Grass Valley, CA — September 2025 — September is Hunger Action Month, a time to raise awareness and inspire action to end hunger. Interfaith Food Ministry (IFM) invites the community to join this nationwide movement by giving, volunteering, and spreading the word, because every action, big or small, makes a difference.

“With rising costs and food supply challenges, community support matters more than ever,” said Victoria Lindsay, Marketing & Communications Manager of IFM. “When people come together, whether through donations, volunteering, or even recycling, we can ensure that no neighbor in Nevada County goes hungry.”

Here’s how you can help this month:

  • Donate funds to keep IFM’s shelves stocked year-round.
  • Donate food: non-perishable items or extra produce from your garden at IFM. You can also drop non-perishable food items at the Nevada County Jewish Community Center located at 506 Walsh St in Grass Valley.
  • Donate grocery bags: clean paper and plastic bags are always needed.
  • Volunteer your time to distribute food or help rescue food from local stores.
  • Spread the word: share IFM’s mission with friends and family.
  • Pints for a Purpose: $1 of every pint sold on Sundays in September at BrewHaus, located at 300 Spring St. in Nevada City will be donated to IFM.
  • Fill the Truck Food Drive: help stock holiday meals at Twin Cities Church on Friday, September 26.
  • Recycle for a Cause: bring your recyclables to Peace Lutheran Church on Saturday, September 27.
