November 18, 2021 – Sierra College was recognized as a 2021 Champion of Higher Education for Excellence in Transfer during an awards ceremony hosted by the Campaign for College Opportunity on November 17, 2021. This recognition was for colleges and universities that are leading the state in conferring the Associate Degree for Transfer (ADT), enrolling ADT earners on guaranteed pathways to a bachelor’s degree, and intentionally working to support Latinx and Black students on their path to a degree.
Sierra College was awarded for the total numeric growth in Associate Degree for Transfer awards per campus between the 2018–19 and the 2019–20 academic years, with growth of 335 Associate Degrees for Transfer awarded, second in the state. Students who enroll in California State University following earning an ADT are more likely to graduate and in less time as compared to other transfer students. To date, California Community Colleges have awarded more than 280,000 ADTs.
“From our counselors to instructors to student support specialists, together we’re making an impact on student success,” said Willy Duncan, Sierra College Superintendent/President. “This report also shows where we still have work to do, and we will keep doing the work to bridge equity gaps for our students and helping them access the social mobility enabled by higher education.”
Enrollment is open for Spring 2022 at www.SierraCollege.edu with many options for in-person, online, and hybrid instruction.
