Grass Valley, CA — The Sierra Express Bicycle Club has launched a community survey to assess bicycling and e-biking conditions across Western Nevada County. The survey is open to all residents — whether they ride frequently, occasionally, or not at all.

The Western Nevada County Bicycle Transportation & Recreation Survey asks participants about their current riding habits, perceptions of road safety, barriers to biking, and priorities for future improvements such as protected bike lanes, off-street paths, and traffic calming. Results will be used to track conditions over time and inform local planning decisions.

“We want to hear from everyone in our community — not just cyclists,” said Katherine Thompson, President, Sierra Express Bicycle Club. “Whether you ride every day or haven’t been on a bike in years, your perspective matters.”

The survey takes approximately 8–10 minutes to complete and is available now at: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/WNCBikeSurvey

Residents of Grass Valley, Nevada City, Penn Valley, Rough & Ready, and surrounding unincorporated areas are encouraged to participate.

We welcome active participation in any club activity. If there is an aspect of bicycling you are interested in, chances are good that you will find others in the club who share your passion. Our members enjoy many forms of cycling: weekend recreational rides; mid-week rides, out-of-town adventure rides, long-distance touring; commuting; randonneuring; gravel rides; racing; and off-road riding.

Nevada County has challenging terrain for beginning cyclists. We offer monthly “uber casual rides” for those looking for a shorter, slower paced, and less challenging ride.  We also welcome e-bikes.

We can always use volunteers for special events, transportation advocacy, and leading rides. We help sponsor the Gold Country Challenge annually in June. We also have a holiday party, fall picnic and other fun events. We welcome your participation.
