May 17, 2017 – Sierra Frontier Medical Resources is now recruiting paramedics to fill two positions in the Downieville Fire Protection District that together will expand advanced life support services and provide 24/7 emergency medical coverage in western Sierra County this summer. The positions were created by SFMR as a pilot project to expand the services provided by dedicated local volunteers. The paramedics will be stationed in Downieville and will work with the Downieville Ambulance System. A furnished home has been rented by SFMR and is ready for move-in.
Sierra Frontier Medical Resources is a charitable non-profit 501(c) (3) formed in 2014 to address local emergency health care needs. Since it formed, the organization has trained homemaker health aides, emergency medical responders, and emergency medical technicians. It has raised over $50,000 toward the hiring of paramedics.
