GRASS VALLEY, Calif. October 18, 2018 – A vegetation fire was reported last night at 9:20pm behind 265 Sutton Way in Grass Valley, units responded to the given location. Upon the arrival of Engine 2, it was reported as a 50’ X 50’ fire with a transient camp involved, no threat to the apartment complex. The fire was reported by residents of the Glenbrook apartments after seeing flames and smoke coming from the field.
Access was difficult, but once crews reached the fire, it was contained within minutes. The crews continued with mop up and line construction and overhaul, with the fire being extinguished at about 10:30 pm.
The fire was contained to less than 1/4 acres with no injuries, and no structures or vehicles being damaged.
The cause is under investigation by Grass Valley Fire Prevention Officers.
