GRASS VALLEY, Calif. July 3, 2019 – Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital Foundation’s (SNMHF) Board of Directors is proud to announce $1,613,458.00 was transferred in June, (the end of the fiscal year), to Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital to support important community healthcare needs. According to SNMHF Executive Director, Kimberly Parker, this is the largest amount the Hospital Foundation has ever given to the Hospital in a single year.

“The work we do is thanks to a very generous community. The monies raised will have an incredible impact on over 75,000 people that utilize Hospital services, people who count on our Hospital to be available to them when they need it most,” said Parker.

While the SNMHF Board continues to focus on fundraising for the vital $2 million Emergency Department project, donations helped in many areas of the Hospital including: a new Infusion Center that handles more than 9,500 patients a year, the Alzheimer’s Outreach Program that provides respite support, crisis intervention, case management and caregiver education, Falls Prevention community education, mammograms for patients in need, a cardiology probe, the Comfort Cuisine program for cancer patients and their families, various Cancer Center support groups, palliative care, CPR equipment, the first $1 million toward the Emergency Department project, and more!

“There has been a perfect storm in healthcare finance over recent years,” Parker says. “Even Hospital’s that do an excellent job managing their operations as Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital does need access to revenue that can power their plans. Philanthropy is a key lever in strengthening your local Hospital, spurring growth, and enabling us to add new equipment, technology, programs and services and more.”

Parker went on to state, “There is a great responsibility that comes with living in a rural community. Keeping you healthy is our goal 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, but we can’t do it alone.”

Gil Mathew, current Board President thanks the many donors for their ongoing support of quality, community healthcare. “Because of you,” Mathew stated, “our local Hospital continues to operate at peak efficiency, using state-of-the-art equipment and vital programs to ensure our community stays happy and healthy, now and for generations to come.”
