NC Rossi Banner 9-16

NEVADA CITY, Calif. September 7, 2016 – Sunday’s (Sept. 11) 50th Annual Nevada City Constitution Day Parade is shaping up to be the best in many years. The parade moves down Broad Street beginning at 2pm.

The Nevada City Constitution Day Committee reported Wednesday (Sept. 7) that more than 80 entries are signed up and more are coming in each day.

Topping the guest list is Nevada City’s own Alexander Rossi, winner of the 2016 Indianapolis 500. He will be accompanied by Riebe’s Automotive Indy pace car, an Indy race car, the Sonoma Raceway Girls and the Forest Lake Christian School Cheerleaders. Rossi, who is sponsored by Honda, will ride in a Honda Ridgeline pickup with his five-foot-tall Indy 500 trophy. His team is planning souvenirs including Rossi hats, fans, American flags and checkered flags.

Other notable entries this year include the Sacramento Kings Dancers, the Nevada Union HS cheerleading squad and fall sports athletes, the CHP Mounted Patrol and several bands. The Seven Hills Band and Nevada Union HS Choir will perform a patriotic medley before the parade.

The Famous Marching Presidents of Nevada City return and will be accompanied by Nevada City musician, producer and broadcaster Paul Emery, winner of the 2016 Col. Bill Lambert Award for his contributions to Nevada City and the Nevada City way of life. Grand Marshal of this year’s parade is Martin David Perry, Grand Master of Masons in California.

The parade caps a full weekend of activites in Nevada City. For a complete schedule of events, see www.nevadacitychamber.com
