TRUCKEE, Calif. June 24, 2019 – Around 4:00 pm on Sunday, Truckee Police officers were flagged down by a citizen regarding a suspicious subject who was kicking rocks down onto Glenshire Dr. at vehicles. Officers quickly arrived in the area near the 267 Bypass and found several large softball sized rocks in the eastbound lane of Glenshire. A suspect, later was identified as Darwyn Yowell, was sitting about 20 feet up a 30 foot rock wall on the north side of Glenshire.

Yowell climbed to the top of the rock wall where officers attempted to detain him. Yowell physically resisted and broke free of the officers and sat himself in the middle of the rock wall. Officers did not follow him due to the dangerous conditions. Additional officers responded to assist and Glenshire Drive was closed to through traffic.

At around 5:45 pm Yowell came down and was taken into custody. Yowell was booked into the Truckee Jail for a felony- Projecting rocks at motorists and resisting arrest.
