NEVADA CITY, Calif., October 6, 2026 – Classic chocolate treats won by a large margin in our Halloween candy poll, with no distinction between Nevada City, Grass Valley or county residents. You just prefer chocolate in all its forms. The “healthier options” came in a close second across the board, and quite a few readers chose “Does it matter? It’s candy!” because… Halloween.
You certainly have opinions about candy corn. The majority of respondents to our survey chose “Only at Halloween”, followed by “Hate it” and only a few courageous souls admitting to liking the sugary treat.
We checked with our workplace neighbors and they had definitely strong opinions. Here’s a montage of their responses:
