Truckee Firefighters are proud to introduce ourselves as members of the Sierra Nevada Firefighters Local 3800 Union, affiliated with the International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF). Earlier this year, the operational staff of Truckee Fire officially joined the Local 3800, which represents firefighters throughout the Sierra Nevada region and western slope communities. The Local 3800 represents Truckee Fire employees below the rank of Battalion Chief, including Captains, Engineers, and Firefighter EMT/Paramedics. The IAFF represents more than 85% of professional firefighters and paramedics across the United States and Canada, and we are excited to join that tradition of professional representation and advocacy.
Our goal as shop leadership is simple: to foster strong communication and collaboration within the district while continuing to provide the highest level of service to the Truckee community. We look forward to working productively with Fire Chief McKechnie, district leadership, and the Board of Directors to support positive progress for our firefighters, our stations, and the residents we serve.
Community connection is also important to us. In the coming months, we hope to participate in outreach events and create additional opportunities to engage directly with the public.
While the official Truckee Fire District communication channels remain the best source for district announcements, prevention information, and updates regarding Measure T and burn restrictions, we invite community members to follow our firefighter-focused Instagram page, @truckeefirefighters3800, for a closer look at training, emergency response, and daily life within your local fire department. We are proud to serve the Truckee community and look forward to building strong relationships with the residents and visitors who make this area such a special place to live and work.
