August 4, 2018 – On Saturday, August 4, 2018, at 1:20 pm, Truckee Police were dispatched to two subjects stranded on a rock and yelling for help, about 100 yards off the shore in Donner Lake. Truckee Police responded by boat and with the assistance of Truckee Fire, located the two men on a rock off of Donner Memorial State Park.

The men had swam to the rock in windy conditions, and one suffered a minor leg injury, which prevented him from swimming back to shore.

Waves were 1 to 3 feet high.

The two men. ages 26 and 35, both from San Jose, were taken aboard the Truckee Police boat and transported back to shore.

The injured man declined medical attention by Truckee Fire Paramedics.

Truckee Police would like to remind the public that the current windy conditions present dangerous conditions on the water and the public should exercise caution.
