Today, August 1, 2019, the Town of Truckee will implement paid parking, and a pilot program for mobile payment in the Railyard Parking Lot at the intersection of Bridge Street and Donner Pass Road. This pilot program will run until March 2020. The Railyard Lot will offer two hours of free parking followed by a $1.00 per hour rate between 10 AM – 6 PM, daily. The Town will also be launching the WayToPark mobile application as a payment option. In preparation, the Town encourages you to download the free WayToPark mobile application as a payment option through the iOS app store or the Google play store and create an account.

At the Railyard Lot, drivers can initiate a parking session using a pay station or the WayToPark mobile application. Your license plate number is required to start a parking session. When using the WayToPark mobile application, users should select parking Zone #100 for the Railyard Lot. Parking payments will be verifiable by license plate number, which means that you do not need to display a receipt in your vehicle. You can also add more time to your parking session and request reminders near the end of your parking session remotely via WayToPark application. The goal of the WayToPark pilot is to demonstrate the ease and effectiveness of this mobile payment tool and consider expanding it to other locations.
