PENN VALLEY, Calif June 23, 2018 – This afternoon at 5:38 PM Penn Valley Fire Protection District resources were notified of a passenger vehicle fire at the intersection of Highway 20 and Penn Valley Drive, near the Taco Shell, involving a small automotive camper.
Units arrived on scene at 5:40 PM and took aggressive suppression actions and contained the fire to the vehicle of origin, there were no injuries and no extension to the wildland.
The cause of the fire was accidental and related to fuel and engine components.
The fire took approximately twenty minutes to extinguish. The eastbound lanes of Highway 20 were closed for approximately one hour for fire operations.
Penn Valley Fire was assisted by engines from Grass Valley City Fire Department, Rough & Ready Fire Department and CAL FIRE.
