NEVADA CITY, Calif. October 25, 2016 – The deadline to register to vote in the November election has passed and Nevada County upped the number of registered voters substantially.  Registrations went from 66,149 in June to 68,075 as of yesterday – representing 88% of eligible voters.

Democrats outnumber Republicans in registrations: 24,971 to 23,827. 15,118 state No Party Preference, 795 Green, 786 Libertarians, 178 Peace&Freedom, 30 other parties.

50,386 vote by mail ballots were issued and 4,845 voted ballots have made their way back to the Elections Office.

Nevada County voters have the option to check if their vote-by-mail ballot has been received by checking here: http://reports.nevcounty.net/ELAVStats/

Voters have until November 1 to request a vote-by-mail ballot.

Voted ballots must be dropped off at a polling station or the Elections Office before the polls close on November 8th. Mailed ballots must be postmarked on or before November 8, 2016, and received by the Elections Office no later than November 14, 2016.
