Nevada City, CA — The South Yuba River Citizens League (SYRCL) is canceling its Yuba River Community Cleanup today as well as its Volunteer Appreciation Party at Bridgeport. This decision was made because of the extremely hazardous air quality conditions Saturday morning, September 17.

“The health and wellbeing of our volunteers and staff come first,” says Melinda Booth, Executive Director, “which is why we had to make this difficult call this morning.”

“If air quality conditions improve this afternoon, we want to encourage volunteers to go out and do a self-guided Cleanup at their favorite site or neighborhood. We are so thankful to those of you who have signed up to help us today,” says Maddie Davis, Community Engagement Manager.

Staff will be at the SYRCL office all day to lend support to any volunteers who do go out later.

Fortunately for the Yuba Watershed, SYRCL volunteers have been working all week at our Self-Guided Cleanup and have made great strides in taking on a summer’s worth of trash.

Additional information will be posted on SYRCL’s website and social media pages.
