BASS LAKE, CA, May 9, 2017 – The 3rd Annual Yosemite Half Marathon, a race centered around breathtaking Vistas on National Park and Forest Service Lands, will be taking place May 12-13, 2017 on the Bass Lake Ranger District. Starting with a race expo on Friday May 12, 2017 runners and spectators will begin arriving in Bass Lake, CA.
The race will take place Saturday May 13, 2017 from 6:00am to 11:30am. The planned course will take runners on fire roads through the Sierra National Forest just north of Bass Lake, then down Beasore Rd and around part of Bass Lake, ending at Recreation Point. During these hours there will be some 3000 runners on the roads starting on forest road 6S40 off Sky Ranch Rd and then coming down Beasore Rd crossing onto Hwy 274 from Beasore Rd to The Pines Resort. The road will be closed for the runner’s safety. Please use the detour to North Fork in order to get to Oakhurst, if necessary.
North Shore Rd will be open but will have heavy runner traffic from The Pines Resort to Recreation Point Campground. Traffic will continue to operate, but drivers should expect delays. If at all possible, plan to avoid traveling in these areas during these hours.
The event coordinators would like to express their apology in advance for any inconvenience this may cause residents. “We are grateful to the Bass Lake community to allow us to put on these events. Without their cooperation it just wouldn’t be possible,” said Director of Race Operations Lyle Anderson. “We really appreciate being allowed to hold this event and help our runners discover, or re-discover, the beauty of the Sierra National Forest and Yosemite!”
The event has over 3,000 running participants and will bring around 6,000 people to the Bass Lake area. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Dehn Craig (775) 544-1139 or firstname.lastname@example.org with the race production company.
