NEVADA CITY, Calif. December 27, 2016 – Chabad of Nevada County is inviting the entire community to celebrate the Festival of Lights at a public Menorah kindling ceremony on the 8th night of Chanukah. The grand Chanukah celebration will take place on Saturday Evening, Dec 31, 7pm, at the Robinson Plaza, 132 Main Street way in downtown Nevada City.

Public dignitaries and community leaders will attend the ceremony and will assist in kindling the giant “Menorah of Freedom”. Lighting the Chanukah Menorah commemorates a great miracle in Jewish history, and is relevant today as a symbol of freedom and light.

Following the kindling, the program will feature traditional Chanukah treats (sufganiyot, latkes), lively music, crafts for children, dreidels, a photo booth, and a magical comedy show, by the famous Rob Rasner. This celebration will be a most memorable event for adults and children of all ages.

Chanukah for many, brings back fond memories of childhood years and serves to renew our sense of identity. The Chanukah lights provide us with warmth, joy, strength and inspiration. Such is the purpose of a community-wide celebration to be held at the Robinson Plaza this Chanukah.

The Chanukah festival is sponsored by Chabad of Nevada County (one of 4,500 global centers) and is open to the entire community free of charge.
