Tuesday January 21 st , 2025, at 4:39 PM Penn Valley Fire was dispatched to a reported structure fire in the area of Lake Wildwood Drive and Hitch Court. Battalion 5611, Engine 44 and Medic 43 arrived on scene at 4:44 PM to find an approximately 1200 square foot, single family residence, with heavy fire and smoke showing from one side of the structure.
E44 began fire attack and M43 started a rapid preliminary search of the structure for any victims. At 4:48 PM M43 crew located an adult victim in the main portion of the structure, crews were able to perform a rescue and immediately begin treating the victim for burn injuries. At 4:59 PM M43 transported the victim Code 3 to Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital in Grass Valley for further treatment.
Fire suppression continued with Engine 59 from the Rough & Ready Fire Station, Grass Valley Fire Engines 1,2 and Battalion 3 and Smartsville Fire Engine 863. At 5:07 pm the fire was fully contained and salvage, overhaul and investigation operations began.
At the height of the incident 2 Battalion Chiefs, 5 Engines and 1 Ambulance were assigned to the fire. No injuries were sustained by firefighters.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation as of the writing of this release, and the status of the victim is unknown at this time.
