February 7, 2018 – It is unfortunate that my opposition has decided to take the negative route in this election at such an early date. He has chosen to haggle over past events that have already been thoroughly investigated and resolved, and that include findings of “no wrongdoing” by the Nevada County Sheriff’s Department. The matter was also thoroughly reviewed and resolved within our local Courts.

We, as legitimate candidates, should be discussing the material issues affecting public safety in Nevada County and generating ideas on how to move the District Attorney’s Office forward into the future given today’s state-mandated legal constraints in the criminal justice system.

My opponent’s representations and characterizations of the events of 2015 are untrue. Rather, his lack of judgment, lack of comprehensive analysis, lack of managerial skill, and his inability to effectively work with law enforcement lead to his leaving the office.

I look forward to moving past this baseless accusation and focusing on what truly matters, the well-being and safety of our community.

One reply on “Op-Ed | Cliff Newell response to Jennings statement”

  1. I think people should read the article Newell is trying to respond to… https://yubanet-launch.newspackstaging.com/regional/op-ed-glenn-jennings-candidate-jennings-expands-on-reasons-for-running/ Stating the facts on why someone is running for an office isn’t “negative”.

It also looks like it’s very clear by this later post that there is far more to this: https://yubanet-launch.newspackstaging.com/regional/heather-burkes-response-to-cliff-newells-statement-on-deputy-mackey/

Look at all the facts people and decide for yourselves. Glenn Jennings will have my vote.
