July 1, 2020 at 7:00 AM You can find last month’s log here. The backstory on the featured image: This baby Stellar’s Jay probably ventured out way too early from the nest. We watched it for a few hours, no parents showed up and we couldn’t locate a nest. When juvenile squirrels started to play/run at the lilac and try to chase “Squeaky,” we (carefully) grabbed the bird and took it to the amazing Wildlife Rehabilitation&Release Intake Center. Once fully fledged, able to fly and fend for themselves, Squeaky and another Stellar’s Jay will be released back here at YubaNet HQ.
