January 3, 2021 at 3:26 PM Active weather pattern with mountain travel impacts and moderate to heavy rain. Widespread rain and snow will then begin to develop late tonight and will continue into tomorrow. Moderate rain along with heavy snow will be possible from late morning into the evening as a cold front moves from north to south. There will be an isolated chance for an afternoon thunderstorm or two to develop north of Sacramento tomorrow afternoon but the chances look to remain very low. Overall we are not expecting much impacts over the burn scars but given the period of moderate rain expected we could see some ash flow on the new burn scars. Rain and snow diminish during the evening and overnight with dry weather for Tuesday. Another system moves in for Wednesday bringing valley showers and some mountain snow. Dry weather sets back in on Thursday with another system for Friday that could bring some mountain travel impacts.
