The “dynamite” call today was interesting to say the least. In summary, a local couple related cleaning out storage today and rediscovering the stick of “dynamite” an acquaintance had given them many years ago. They felt it prudent to bring it to us and have it properly disposed. The potential explosive was ushered back into their vehicle and secured. Notification to the Placer County bomb squad was made, a social media push and code-red were sent to the designated area, evacuations and road closure began. The item was the same shape and size of a typical stick of dynamite. It was safely recovered by the bomb squad and determined to be a homemade M-type explosive designed to do just that. NCPD urges anyone discovering a potential explosive device to refrain from touching it. Retreat and create a large distance, contact law enforcement immediately for further instructions.”

March 18, 2022 at 11:17 AM InConcert Sierra update: Due to circumstances beyond our control at this time, we are cancelling the live audience aspect of the “Composers Project with Mark Vance” presentation of “Poetry in Song” this Sunday, March 20. Ticket holders will be refunded. We are working very hard to allow for all the student’s compositions to be performed and videotaped, so that they and their families can enjoy and have a record of their compositions. The “Composer Project with Mark Vance” is an outstanding program. Continuing this Composers Project experience since the beginning of Covid has been an
overwhelming challenge for Mark and InConcert Sierra as we’ve tried to navigate the additional expense and ever-changing–and often disappointing–landscape.
