June 22, 2022 at 8:46 AM Thanks to PIO Daniel Ramey of Peardale Chicago Park Fire for the video of this morning’s structure fire. Says Ramey, “At approximately 0500 hours Peardale Chicago Park Fire, Ophir Hill Fire, Grass Valley Fire, Nevada County Consolidated Fire, and CAL FIRE NEU, responded to a residential structure fire on Wild Life Lane off You Bet Road. Upon arrival units found one structure, numerous vehicles and RV on fire, with minimal spread to vegetation. Units made aggressive attack on the fire. Fire crews also located a spot fire in the vegetation away from the main fire. Fire crews quickly extinguished the spot fire and kept it under a quarter acre. Crews will be working to completely extinguish the fire for several hours. Nevada County Sheriff’s Office also assisted at the incident. All occupants made it safely out of the structure.”

June 6, 2022 at 6:46 AM Deer Creek Southside FireWise cleanup makes a big dent in ongoing problem. Cleanup exposes magnitude of camps, fire rings and fuel loading in high fire danger zone just outside downtown Nevada City. On Saturday, twenty-two volunteers showed up, including Homeless Outreach and Medical Engagement (HOME) Team Supervisor Kristen Glanz. Charlie Faber (C&D Contractors), supplied 4 employees, heavy machinery, and an end dump to haul away garbage. Waste Management donated a 40 cubic yard dumpster. Approximately 70 yards of garbage were hauled out. But there’s much more to be done.

Pruett alleged candidate Natalie Adona, the current Assistant Clerk-Recorder and candidate to succeed Diaz, did not pay the required filing fee, because the line item didn’t appear on her campaign committee finance filing (Form 460.) In court, Nevada County’s attorneys provided proof Adona paid her filing fee. Pruett was given the option by the judge to withdraw his petition or to have it denied. He withdrew the petition, the court dismissed the case.
