June 26, 2026 at 3:38 PM On Friday, June 26, 2026, at approximately 12:20 p.m., the Yuba County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a possible drowning in the Yuba River just upstream from the Simpson Lane Bridge. Linda and Marysville Fire personnel as well as Yuba County deputies responded and located witnesses who reported a possible drowning. After a brief search, fire personnel located a male in approximately 10 feet of water. They were able to remove him from the water and begin life-saving measures. Ultimately the subject, who is a 34-year-old male from Olivehurst, was pronounced deceased at the scene. Identification of the victim is pending notification of next of kin.

A weak weather system passing to the north will bring cooler temperatures, gusty onshore winds Friday & Saturday, along with a nonzero chance for light mountain showers and isolated thunderstorms over the Southern Cascades and northern Sierra. Behind this system, north winds develop in the Valley early next week accompanied by lower relative humidity and warmer temperatures.

Elevated fire weather concerns in the Valley through Sunday, predominately in the northern Sacramento Valley due to low humidity values and breezy winds.
Still monitoring the signal for precipitation and isolated mountain thunderstorms Monday and Tuesday. Confidence is still low at this time, however overnight forecast trends increased rain totals across NorCal slightly. Probabilities for 0.25″ of rain or more have increased to around 20-40% with the highest chances in the mountains and northern Sacramento Valley.

Crews climbed over boulders to discover a tree that was on fire. The tree was extinguished, all fire units clear.

June 2, 2026 at 9:41 PM An update from Nevada County CDA on the sewer spill at Scotts Flat. The spill was due to a broken pipe at a vault above the Scotts Flat lake boat ramp. Staff are completing cleanup tonight. About 390 gallons of wastewater made it to the lake. Testing is underway and no swim signs will be posted until testing shows pre-spill conditions. More information will be shared tomorrow.
