June 26, 2026 at 3:38 PM On Friday, June 26, 2026, at approximately 12:20 p.m., the Yuba County Sheriffโs Office received a report of a possible drowning in the Yuba River just upstream from the Simpson Lane Bridge. Linda and Marysville Fire personnel as well as Yuba County deputies responded and located witnesses who reported a possible drowning. After a brief search, fire personnel located a male in approximately 10 feet of water. They were able to remove him from the water and begin life-saving measures. Ultimately the subject, who is a 34-year-old male from Olivehurst, was pronounced deceased at the scene. Identification of the victim is pending notification of next of kin.

A weak weather system passing to the north will bring cooler temperatures, gusty onshore winds Friday & Saturday, along with a nonzero chance for light mountain showers and isolated thunderstorms over the Southern Cascades and northern Sierra. Behind this system, north winds develop in the Valley early next week accompanied by lower relative humidity and warmer temperatures.
