Strong high pressure over Interior Northern California will result in hot temperatures with triple digit heat in the Central Valley and portions of the surrounding foothills. Consequently, a Heat Advisory will remain in effect until 11 PM tonight. After a mild overnight, the region is already off to a warm start compared to yesterday. While forecast temperatures are above normal, no records are anticipated. The excessive heat should be short lived as the upper ridge will retreat toward the east allowing for a return to typical late July temperatures starting Monday. July 1, 2019 at 6:42 PM Firefighters have a good knockdown on the fire, the extension to the vegetation is close to containment. One Washington Ridge handcrew requested to respond to the fire. Ongoing safety issue due to downed power lines. Nevada County Sheriff’s deputies have arrived at scene as well. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Earlier today @NCCFIRE along with @CHPValleyAirOps and @GrsNev successfully rescued and injured person from the trails along the #southyubariver near Edwards Crossing. We have performed many rescues already this year, remember to use caution in and around natural waterways.

July 1, 2019 at 5:35 PM – The County will be paving Purdon Road at Shady Creek on Tuesday, July 2nd. Paving is expected to be completed by 5:00 pm. Expect delays of up to 20 minutes. Please use caution when in the area and obey all posted construction notices.
