Hudson is a private road leading up to Round Mountain in the Lake Vera area.

Please watch for trees and rocks on rural roads and report any downed trees, power lines or mud/rock in the roadway. Be safe everyone.

A few lingering showers will continue over the valley this morning but for the most part rainfall should end in the valley during the morning commute hours. Snowfall will continue over the Sierra through about 11 am with snow levels dropping to around 4000 feet. High pressure pushing in off the Pacific will bring an end to the Sierra snowfall this afternoon.

I am calling to help stop the rumors that were started over an incident that occurred at Nevada Union High School today. We did have one incident today with one student that required law enforcement’s involvement. Multiple law enforcement responded and the situation was diffused quickly. There were no drugs, no stabbing, or violence to any staff members or students. The students at Nevada Union High School were safe at all times. We never found a need to lock down and all students were released on time and busses left on time. Thank you to everyone for the show of support and to law enforcement for handling this situation quickly and without incident.

The first of a series of winter storms, including high winds, is predicted to arrive Friday evening and continue through Saturday, resulting in winter driving conditions. A second, less intense storm is predicted to arrive Sunday evening and last into Monday morning.

November 2, 2017 at 10:06 AM Yesterday’s prescribed fire on the Truckee Ranger District went well, they were able to burn 104 acres. they plan on burning another 41 acres Thursday, November 2nd near Sagehen Creek on Hwy 89 North, west of the highway. This will only take place as long as weather, fuel conditions, and smoke dispersal remains favorable. Predicted weather forecasts over the week is for a more wet and cold weather pattern. This prescribed fire has been planned for several years however we have not been able to implement due to weather conditions or resource availability. Remember, we live in a fire dependent ecosystem. If we control when and where fires are ignited, we will reduce the threat of a wildfire because the fuel is no longer available to burn. These planned prescribed fires will help reduce wildfires if enough of it is accomplished over the landscape.

November 1, 2017 at 6:31 AM Prescribed fire will continue today on the Yuba River Ranger District of the Tahoe National Forest. The units are along Pendola Extension Road and Youngs Hill Road, all within the Pendola area which is just west of Camptonville and east of Bullards Bar Reservoir. Firefighters are on scene and smoke will be visible from the underburn.

November 1, 2017 at 6:21 AM The Truckee Ranger District of the Tahoe National Forest will continue their prescribed fire today. “Yesterday’s prescribed fire on the Truckee Ranger District went well, we were able to burn 63 acres. We plan on burning another 60-80 acres Wednesday, November 1st near Sagehen Creek on Hwy 89 North, west of the highway. This will only take place as long as weather, fuel conditions, and smoke dispersal remains favorable. Predicted weather forecasts over the week is for a more wet and cold weather pattern. This prescribed fire has been planned for several years however we have not been able to implement due to weather conditions or resource availability,” stated Linda Ferguson, District Fuels Specialist.
