May 31, 2021 at 9:01 AM High Heat Risk for Memorial Day and Tuesday. Today will likely be the hottest day of the week as the current heat event peaks. Valley locales that didn’t see their first triple digit highs yesterday will likely do so today. Highs today will be several degrees warmer than Sunday’s and will top out mostly in the 105-110 degree range across the Valley, with the foothills 95-105, and mountains mostly in the 70s and 80s. A Delta Breeze will develop this evening and that will bring some relief to the Delta region and the Sacramento and Stockton areas for Tuesday, but areas further inland will remain hot. Overnight lows will remain very warm tonight, especially for the Valley and foothill areas away from the Delta Breeze where lows may only drop into the upper 60s to mid 70s. Slightly cooler overnight temperatures are expected Tuesday night. This hot weather pattern will bring a high heat risk, and much of the population could be impacted. Any travelers, hikers, campers, or outdoor enthusiasts with plans to spend time outdoors should prepare for excessive heat. Not quite as hot weather for the second half of the week but above normal highs and moderate heat risk will continue.
